Hiatus

by Michael Khalili on March 30, 2011

The past month Twitter has announced some new guidelines regarding their consistency and ecosystem opportunities. Unfortunately, it shows that Twitter is now taking a hostile approach towards developers and companies building on top of their API. I’ve worked really hard building the site and spent a lot of time on improvements I was hoping to roll out but I can’t go on building on a platform that is likely to pull the rug out from under me. It pains me to make a decision like this but I have to cut my losses. Until Twitter changes their attitude towards developers I have to put the site into hiatus. I hope Twitter will see how damaging this is and change their stance so I can revisit this project.

Please change your links away from your FollowZone.com profile and send the users back to your Twitter profile directly. In order to wind things down properly and give everyone time to make this change, I’m redirecting all profile links to Twitter.

Thank you for using this site!

Update: Twitter continues to be aggressive towards developers and I can’t see building a product based on their system. Instead, I’ve been working on another project that summarizes popular news and blogs called Skim That. Go there now and Like Skim That on Facebook.
